3rd-8th grade division:

Elementary teams may request the same team/coach.  In 6th grade, CYBA does not allow players to return to their elementary school team. Middle school teams may choose to stay with their coach after 6th grade. The teams are formed randomly by the middle school attended. CYBA does this to keep some teams from possibly playing together for 4-7 years which would be an unfair advantage to other teams coming into the league. CYBA is a recreational league and we strive to keep the teams balanced as much as possible.

Teams are formed first by school (if there is a coach and enough players), then by space available on other teams.  If there is more than one team per school, then teams within that school will be formed randomly.  Requests for a specific coach or teammate(s) and carpool requests will not be honored.  Players must play in their grade level.  Fees are $100 and participation in the fundraiser (or buy-out for $25). These fees include team shirt and shoe bag, preseason or postseason jamborees, practice space, game space and referrees. Each team gets one 90 minute practice per week. Practices begin in November and games begin in January.

The season kicks off for boys grades 3-6 and girls grades 3-7 with the annual Allen Jennings Jamboree held at the new Columbia Sports Fieldhouse on December 13th and 14th. The 7/8 boys will have a Jamoboree on a different date.

This season we are offering an opportunity for girls grades 3-5 a fundemental skills clinic to build confidence and learn basic basketball skills:

2019 3-5th grade girls Skills Clinic open to girls in grades 3-5 (Limited to 50 participants) $25-The Skills Clinic will stress fundamental basketball skills including passing, dribbling, shooting, rebounding, etc. Clinics will last approximately 75 minutes and be held at the new Columbia Sports Fieldhouse.  The dates for the 2019 Skills Clinic are as follows:  October 26th, November 2nd. November 9th and November 16th.   Each session will begin at 11:15 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m.

7th graders who play on their school team can play/practice with CYBA after their season is complete at their school (We suggest signing 7th graders up early to assure a spot on a team by team formation deadline). Teams are typically full if you wait to sign up after the school season is over the first week of December.

Players in 8th grade who are playing school ball cannot play CYBA. We suggest registering for the division in 8th grade to assure a spot on a team, and if your player makes their school team they can be removed from the division. You can complete payment after the school teams are announced.

Team Practices grades 3-8: Coaches will contact you regarding team placement in early November.  Practice will begin by mid-November. Practices will be once a week for 90 minutes.  Day, time and  location to be determined by coach.

*CYBA reserves the right to combine divisions based on number of registrations received at the time of team coordination.
