My name is Nathaniel Powell and I will be Head Coach for the 2019-2020 Season. Currently, I am a senior undergraduate student at the University of Missouri studying economics. This allows me plenty of free time which I am more than happy to dedicate to coaching.
I have enjoyed participating in organized basketball since fifth grade and have continued to play at a competitive level throughout high school. With eight years of experience including four years of high school ball, I hope to properly share the game of basketball and prepare your son for the next level. I have coached and led numerous sports camps and teams throughout my high school career. While my background primarily lies with younger groups, I am excited to see what degree of skill and athleticism 7/8th-grade boys will bring to the table. I have been looking forward to this opportunity and I take my role as a head coach very seriously.
First Practice Information:
Today, 11/18/19 is our first practice which will be held at the Columbia Sports Fieldhouse from 7:30 – 9 pm. Please arrive early to allow time for your child to warm up. We aren't allotted copious amounts of time, especially given CYBA only practices one day per week. Getting the heart rate up and most importantly STRETCHING is expected to be done before the clock hits 7:30 so we can hit the ground running. Your child's well being is of the utmost importance so I cannot stress this enough. Please come prepared!

• Gym Shoes (preferably hightops to reduce the probability of ankle sprain)
• Good Attitude
What to Expect:
Given today is the first practice of the year; I will primarily use this time as an evaluation period. My two main objectives are determining the degree of fundamental proficiency, and the amount of strength and conditioning the team already has. From there I will tailor my practices to the specific needs of the group.
Please stay in close contact with me throughout the year. Should your child need to miss a practice/game or is feeling sore or hurt in any way I need to know about it. I will leave my contact information below. The phone is preferred but email will suffice. Note, generally I will not respond to emails as timely.
